Painted for the Acadiana Center for the Arts’ Pelicans on Parade fundraiser, Cypress Reverie is a hand-painted 12-inch ceramic pelican inspired by the tranquil beauty of Chicot State Park. Selected as one of four artists for the silent auction, I revisited the swampy landscapes that have influenced my work, this time on a sculptural canvas. Layering acrylics, I captured moss-draped cypress trees, soft reflections, and the quiet stillness of the water. The piece was auctioned at the Pelican Ball and now lives in a home that shares a love for Louisiana’s natural spaces.
